Knowing who connects you to whom
Grupster’s offer started with a simple idea: meeting people through friends and friends of friends. Its homepage described a free service for personal and professional contacts, showing the connection to a new acquaintance.
The proposed sequence was to register, invite friends and connect with their networks. This is the description preserved in the September 2004 copy: it records the offer rather than a practical test of the service.
The reference in Montemagno’s blog
In his 12 April 2004 post “A tutto Social networking”, Montemagno describes an expanding landscape of social networks. Among the European examples, he explicitly links to Grupster as a project he is involved with. The text places that reference before later biographical accounts.
Yakom and a project still in development
The About page, archived in October 2004, credits Yakom with the idea, creation, development and management. It also lists Consumavoce among the software company’s work and invites suggestions and bug reports because Grupster is still under development.
